Mrs. Betty Ann Cason Baker, age 91, was born November 17, 1932, to Henry Hardwick Cason and Annie Lee Phillips Cason. On Friday, March 8, 2024, she went to her final home that her Savior went to prepare for her, after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Baker started working at Thomson Company and furthered her career at Civil Service (Fort Gordon) in 1966 where She retired as Chief of payroll and finance some 35 years later. She was a member of Sweetwater Baptist Church for over 80 years, where she served as Pianist for 38 years. Mrs. Baker served on numerous committees and was committed to Youth ministry. Mrs. Baker was a committed servant and follower of Jesus.
Mrs. Baker was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Mr. Joe Baker, as well as her brother, Charles D. Cason. Betty and Joe were married for 66 years.
Survivors include her two daughters, Ann Marie Baker, Atlanta and Vickie (Ken) Joiner, Thomson; her two special family members, Robert Barrett Stumpe and Kelly Lee Dorsett: and a special friend Beth Levine. She also leaves Joe’s 3 sisters, and one brother. She will also be missed greatly by nieces and nephews.
I would especially like to thank Thomson Health and Rehabilitation, Regency Hospice, and caregivers, Tammy Chewning and Candice French for their expertise and compassionate care thru out her final days.
Funeral services will be at Sweetwater Baptist Church on Tuesday, March 12th, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Don Cummings officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service in the church sanctuary from 12:30-2:00 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Robert Stumpe, Brandon Dorsett, James Farr, Jim Hall, Charles Wallace, and Matt Chester.
Honorary pallbearers will be Teddy Reese, Bubba Hunt, Ray Rooks, and Larry Hughes.
