Dearing- Mr. Harold Hammett, 88, widower of Mrs. Gladys P. Hammett, entered into rest Friday, June 21, 2019, in University Hospital Augusta. He was the son of the late Charles Hammett and Mary Rabun Hammett.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, June 24, in the Curtis Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverends Roy Frierson, and Frank Thigpen officiating. Interment will follow in Zoar United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Hammett was a native of Warren County, but had lived in Dearing for many years. He was a retired plumber and electrician. He was a member of Mt. Beulah Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his three siblings, and his wife, Mrs. Gladys P. Hammett. He is survived by a son, Wayne Hammett (Missy), Warrenton; sister, Maggie Wilkerson, Grovetown.
Pallbearers will be Hal Wheeler, Al Wheeler, Sydney Wilkerson, Don Hammett, Joe Dewitt, and Lem DeWitt. Honorary pallbearers will be Sam Kitchens, Mansel McTier, Aubrey Jones, and Lee Roy Usry.
In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to Mt. Beulah Baptist Church.
Friends may call at the Curtis Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
