Thomson - Mrs. Anita Black, 94, widow of Mr. Luther Black, died Monday, January 17, 2022, in the University / McDuffie Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 22, 2022, in the Sweetwater Baptist Church with Rev. Don Black and Rev. Butch Baston officiating. Burial will be in the Euphrates Baptist Church Cemetery in Edgehill, Ga. The family will receive friends from 10 till the hour of services on Saturday.
Mrs. Black was a native Glascock County but had lived in Thomson for many years. She was retired from Civil Service at Fort Gordon. She was a member of the Sweetwater Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Black and her parents, Jackson and Emma Bell, and her brother, Lester Bell. Survivors include her daughter, Ann (Pete) Gullett, Shelbyville, KY; her grandson, Asa; her great-granddaughter, Brooklyn; a great-great-grandson, David; her sister, Betty Sammons, Hephzibah
Honorary pallbearers will be Raymond and Joyce Everage, Judy Everage and Robin Everage, Jack and Bennie Wood, Lem DeWitt, and members of her Sunday School Class. Pallbearers will be Joe Ogletree, Jonathan Ogletree, Jason Burton, Matt Chester, and David Bennett.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Sweetwater Baptist Church.
