Thomson – Mrs. Benilee Hatcher Sisson, 99 of Thomson, Ga. entered into rest on Tuesday, October 22, 2024.
A resident of McDuffie County, she was born on March 11, 1925, the daughter of the late Bennie Clifford Hatcher and Minerva Johnson Hatcher. Her mother died when she was nine years old and years later, Elizabeth Bruce Hatcher became her stepmother. She was also predeceased by her husband, John Beazley Sisson; her son, John Hatcher Sisson, Sr.; and her siblings, Frances Minerva Hatcher Morrow (Holmes) and Mary Elizabeth Hatcher Lovejoy (Frank).
Survivors include her daughter, Sandra Sisson Thompson (Larry); five grandchildren, Amy Lynn Beckham (Jason), Lee Anna Meadows, Mary Kathryn Aycox (Steve), John Hatcher Sisson, Jr. (Ashley), and Elizabeth Sisson Smith (Keith); four great-grandchildren, Lauren Elizabeth Beckham, Mary Bennett Sisson, Anna Kathryn Aycox, and Austin Everette Aycox; three nieces, Martha Sue Babin (Tom-deceased), Kathryn Ben Morrow, and Priscilla Flemister (Ed); and a nephew, Ben Lovejoy (Marlene).
She attended school in Thomson, graduating Thomson High School. She graduated with a degree in Secretarial Science from Georgia State College for Women. Her first job was at Crawfordville Lumber Co.in Crawfordville, Ga. She met and married John Beazley Sisson, with whom she had two children. They lived in Crawfordville from 1945 until 1952, when they moved to Thomson.
The family joined the First Methodist Church, where she was a member of the J.O.Y. Sunday School Class. She enjoyed working with children at the church through both Bible School and Sunday School. She loved flowers and was a member of Pine Needle Garden Club.

A graveside service will be held at 3 PM on Sunday, October 27, 2024 in Westview Cemetery, with Dr. Steve Dodson, Senior Pastor of Thomson First Methodist Church officiating. The family will receive friends at the graveside, following the service.
Friends may call at Curtis Funeral Home from 12 noon until 2 PM on Sunday, before the service where they may sign the guest book.
