Fayetteville, Ga.- Mrs. Carolyn Jones Campbell, well loved by family and friends, passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at the age of 81. A native of Thomson, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late C.B. and Annie McCorkle Jones. She retired from the EPA in Atlanta.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Campbell, and nephew, Jeffrey Gunter.
Carolyn lived a life of love, caring, kindness and putting others first. She had a sharp memory causing others to depend on her for dates and details of memories from the past. Our response was usually “ask Carolyn, she’ll know.” Even in her last few days, she amazed Doctors and nurses when they asked for information.
Survivors include her sister, Marilyn Jones Gunter (Jerry); niece, Lauren Minshew (Stuart); niece, Kim Gunter; one great niece and four great nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 6, 2026, in the Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens, 2235 Washington Hwy, Thomson, with Mr. Jerry Gunter officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 1:45 p.m. on Wednesday at the Curtis Funeral home.
