Dearing- Carolyn Key, 81, passed away on February 20, 2022, at her home in Dearing, Georgia, after a brief illness with cancer. Carolyn was born on August 1, 1940 in Camden, S.C., to the late Andrew and Gladys Goodale. She was the sister of the late James K. Goodale and Emily Berry. She is survived by her loving husband, James B. Key (JB), her sons, Glen E. Joyner (Debbie), James. J. Key (Sherry), and Tony Key (Sherry). Daughters, Caroline Gay Martin, Andrea J. Hanson, Tonya Brittain (Phillip), and Cristina Bruce (Duane). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Amy Hanson, Craig Hanson (Nina), Glen Joyner Jr. (Helen), Charles Joyner (Brittany), Andrew Martin, Scott Key (Martha), Ben Key, Jared Key (Elizabeth), Levi Key, Christopher Bruce, Alyssa Brittain, and Zane Brittain. She also has eight great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. She also leaves behind her very special friend, Pat McCorkle. Carolyn retired from Sears in Charleston, S.C., after working for more than 25 years. She also retired from Walmart on James Island, S.C. After marrying James B. Key (JB) in May of 2006, she moved to Dearing, where she lived until her passing. She loved to travel, take care of animals, and spend time with her grandchildren. She loved her church family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 23, 2022, in the Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Logan Huff and Mr. Jack McCorkle officiating. Burial will be in the Church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Scott Key, Craig Hanson, Levi Key, Chris Sinns, Darrell Treadwell, and David Goodale.
