Dr. Faye (Humphrey) Montgomery-Wood

Thomson- Dr. Faye H. Montgomery-Wood, 85, widow of Mr. Frank Wood, passed away, Monday, July 6, 2026, in the Piedmont / McDuffie Hospital.

A Private Graveside service will be Wednesday, July 8, 2026, in the Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens, with Rev. Larron Pilgrim officiating.

Dr. Montgomery-Wood was born in Glascock County to the late Hugh A. and Mary Humphrey, but had lived in Thomson for many years. She graduated from Georgia Southern and received her Doctorate in Education from the University of Georgia. She began her career as an Educator, as a teacher at several schools and at Augusta Tech. She worked and retired as the Head of Curriculum with the Richmond County Board of Education. She later worked at Reesa, the Georgia State Department of Education and also as the Assistant School Superintendent of Warren County. She was a member of the Sweetwater Baptist Church.

Survivors include her two sisters, Mrs. Joanne H. Harris, Thomson and Mrs. Dahlia H. Calton, Pine Mountain; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In lieu of Flowers, Donations may be made to the Charity of One’s Choice.

There will be no visitation.
