Dr. William David Hall Obituary

Dr. William David Hall

Thomson- Dr. William David Hall, beloved physician, husband, father, and brother passed away peacefully on October 9, 2025 at the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center, Augusta

Born on March 28, 1944 in Emanuel County, Georgia, he was the youngest child of five children of James Homer Hall and Bessie Alice Williams Hall.

He graduated Swainsboro High School in 1962, earned his Associate of Arts Degree at DeKalb College in 1971, Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Chiropractic degrees from Palmer College of Chiropractic, Davenport, Iowa in 1974.

He was Methodist and grew up attending Bethel United Methodist Church. In his adult years, David often attended Bethel’s Homecoming services, as well as Hall Family Reunions held there.

In 1975, Dr. Hall established his chiropractic office in Thomson, Georgia where he served his patients with love and compassion for fifty years. Earlier, as a chiropractic student at Palmer College of Chiropractic, he was taught to serve his patients, turn no one away who comes to you for help. It was philosophy, and he told each new patient on their first visit, “I promise you one thing … I will do my best. I am just an instrument in your care.”

Throughout his career, he set an example for his patients as he joyfully taught them the art, science and philosophy of chiropractic. He was a man of his word, and his word was his bond.

In his quiet, soft-spoken voice, he often remarked, “He hoped just one life was made better because he had lived.”

In 1967-1969 he served his country with honor in the US Army. It was while he was stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia that his life was profoundly changed in 1969.

During an office visit to his chiropractor, Dr. McCartney, after driving from Fort Benning to Atlanta, Dr. McCartney asked David what he planned to do with his life after he got out of the Army. David replied, “I guess I will go back to work at General Motors.” Dr. McCartney’s response to David was “Have you given any thought to finishing your college's courses and then going on to chiropractic College?”

And for David, Dr. McCartney’s words marked the exact moment for the beginning of the direction in which David’s life would go which proved to be his true calling for his life’s work.

He was genuinely devoted to the care of his patients. Dr. Hall always gave more than he ever took. He lived his life by the Golden Rule: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”

Dr.. William David Hall is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Patsy Carolyn R. Hall; and his only child, a daughter, India DaviAnn Hall.

He was a member of the Georgia Chiropractic Association, and Palmer College of Chiropractic Alumni Association.

In the Georgia Chiropractic Association, he served as President of the GCA District III, several terms; GCA Board of Directors 1980-1984: GCA Secretary-Treasurer beginning 1984-1985 and served consecutively for approximately 13 years; GCA Ethics Committee; GCA Insurance Peer Review Committee; Special Presidential Award for Distinguished Service to the GCA 1982-83; GCA “Chiropractor of the Year-1988”

Lifetime Achievement Award presented to W. David Hall, D.C.- Georgia Chiropractic Association Fall Conference, Atlanta, GA- October 2019.

In the community, he served as President of the Harlem, GA Lion’s Club; 2 terms; and 12-year membership- perfect attendance.

“To everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under Heaven; a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted…” Ecclesiastes 3:1-2.

In keeping with his wishes, no funeral service is planned.
