Elon Ray Pinion

Norwood - Mr. Elon Ray Pinion was born June 26, 1944 to Offie Pinion and Verla Mae Davis Pinion in Indianola, Mississippi.

He went to be with his Lord on October 20, 2023 at Piedmont / University, in Augusta.

Ray was Baptist by faith and was a member of Union Baptist Church of Thomson, GA.  Ray loved music, especially gospel.  He could remember lyrics of songs from the 50’s and 60’s like they were yesterday.  Ray spent his life working in industrial maintenance. He was proud of his service in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam era.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Angel Ann, and his brother, Billy.

He is survived by his wife of twenty years, Margaret Pinion; his two children, Marty (Becky) and Kelly (Amanda); his grandson, Dusty Pinion (Brittney); his three granddaughters, Alli Smith (Matt Smith), Taylor Pinion and Raylee Carr; and three great-grandchildren, Alaric Pinion, Cason Smith and Cohen Smith.  Last but not least, a very special kitty named Nana.

Until Our Lord returns, Ray will rest at peace at Johnson Cemetery in Warren County, Georgia.

A memorial graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 24, 2023, with Military Honors, in Johnson Cemetery, with Rev. Tommy Harwell officiating. Visitation will be after the service.
