Martinez - Mrs. Estrellita C. Mitchell, 79, widow of her beloved husband, Mr. James Otis Mitchell, Sr., passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at Doctors Hospital, in Augusta, GA.
She was born in Santa Catalina Bata, San Ildefonso, Bulacan, Phlilippines, but had made her home in Martinez, GA for many years, where she raised her daughter and son, later becoming a much loved grandmother and friend to many.
In her desire to help and take care of others, she became a Registered Nurse, working at both the V. A. Hospital and the Medical College of Georgia, in Augusta. She was retired after many years of nursing service. She attended St. Theresa Avila Catholic Church in Grovetown. She was known to her family as Lola and to her friends, as Lita. She was loved beyond measure and will be surely missed by all who were blessed to know and love her.
Lola loved her family and was so very proud of each member. She adored her granddaughters and cherished the time spent with them. She loved to help people, to spread laughter, and to shop (especially for things to give as gifts). She loved life, family, and most of all, her God!
Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by her husband; her parents, Vidal and Emilia Benardo Calizon and her brother, Geminano Calizon. Survivors include her daughter, Beverly Mitchell (Tony); her son, James Mitchell, Jr. (Danielle); her three beautiful granddaughters, Drezen Mitchell (Tim), Kioko Mitchell and Rylie Mitchell, each of who she loved dearly; her brothers, Romeo Calizon and Emen Calizon; her sister, Egueda Calizon; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.
Per Mrs. Mitchell’s request, there will be no services scheduled at this time.
