Eugene "Gene" Love

Harlem - Mr. Eugene “Gene” Love, 71, beloved husband of Mrs. Virginia Love, passed away, Sunday, October 13, 2024, in the Piedmont / Augusta Hospital.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 17, 2024, in the Curtis Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. David Brooks officiating. Entombment will in the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church Cemetery in Harlem.

Mr. Love was born in Thomas County, Georgia, but had lived in the Harlem area for many years. He was in the construction industry, having been a supervisor as well as a foreman. He was a member of the Belair Baptist Church. He was a college graduate. He was licensed to preach the Gospel in 2012 and was active in ministry, serving at Garden City Rescue Mission in Augusta.

He was preceded in death by his son, Jeremy Love; his parents Charles and Idether Love; and his brothers, William, Terry, James, and Ronnie. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Virginia Love, Harlem; his son, Scott Love, Swainsboro; his stepchildren, Georgia Sleister, Robbie Poole, Angie Adams, and Wayne Johnson; his three sisters, Ann Hokrein,  Patricia Malpass, and Darlene Watts; his brother, John Love; several grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Curtis Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
