Gloria Jean Kelly

Appling - Mrs. Gloria Jean Kelly, 86, died Thursday, October 21, 2021, at her residence.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. in the Family Life Center of Sharon Baptist Church, with Rev. Andy Collins officiating.  The family will receive friends starting at 12 p.m., in the Family Life Center.

Mrs. Kelly was preceded in death by her husband, Stacy Kelly and a son, Russell Kelly.  She is survived by her children; Robert Gordon (Dee), Ken Gordon, Jean Gordon Giles, Pat Kelly (Donnie), Richard Kelly (Jackie), Tony Gordon (Lynn), Tricia Gordon Korenoff (Alan), and Bob Gordon; her special friend, Mama Mary Willingham; 23 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

She became a nurse in 1973 and worked at University Hospital in Augusta.  She loved being with her family, cooking, and sharing stories.  She loved all people unconditionally and never judged anyone.  She was not afraid to learn new things and taught her kids the same.  She loved God and discussing the Bible.  She also loved gardening, which included vegetables, herbs, plants and flowers.  She loved reading all kinds of books and loved animals; having raised cats, dogs, fish, birds and chickens.  She was a true Southern genteel lady that did life her way.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Sharon Baptist Church or to Homestead Hospice.
