Thomson- Mrs. Gloria Ann Hicks Phelps, 89, widow of Mr. James Edward Phelps Sr., passed away Friday, March 7, 2025, in the Piedmont / McDuffie Hospital.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 11, 2025, in the Old Camak Methodist Cemetery, with Dr. David Lambert officiating.
Mrs. Phelps was a native of Warren County, but had lived in Thomson for many years. She was retired from Regions Bank and Briarwood Academy. She was a member of the Thomson First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Martin Hicks and Mozelle J. Hicks Blanchard, her husband, James Edward Phelps, Sr., and her son, James Edward Phelps, Jr. Survivors include her two sons, Thomas Martin Phelps, (Donna) and Stephen Hicks Phelps (Jan); her granddaughters, Gaynie G. Arnold (Mike) and Erin E. Pilgrim (Brice); and her great-grandchildren, Milton Arnold, Harper Pilgrim, and Anna Brice Pilgrim.
Pallbearers will be Doug Dent, Cliff Langham, David Rivers, Don Kitchens. Dr. Bob Hughes and David Nash.
Friends may call at the residence of her son, Tommy Phelps, or at the Curtis Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday night at the funeral home. The family request that memorials in her memory be made to the Vision Fund at the First Baptist Church in Thomson.
