Boneville - Henry Keith Johnson, Sr., 74 died Tuesday February 20, 2024 surrounded by his loving family at Doctors Hospital in Augusta. Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Thelma Jodoin Johnson, his only son, Henry Keith "Kit" Johnson, Jr., and daughter-in-law Sheree Owens Johnson.
Keith was born in Wilkes County, to the late Albert and Lucy Johnson and was raised and resided his adult life in McDuffie County. Keith served honorably in the United States Navy and was a Vietnam Veteran. He retired from DSM Chemical as a Supervisor.
Keith loved The Georgia Bulldogs, Atlanta Braves and Thomson Bulldogs. He loved woodworking, tinkering on cars, and for those that knew him well, his almost daily trips to Walmart. He was always there to lend a hand to his family and friends. Most of all, Keith enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by grandsons, William Johnson of Hephzibah and Dakota "Cody" Johnson (Lakota Colson) of Boneville; great-grandsons, Jacob Lee Johnson, Brantley Keith Johnson, and Henry Michael Johnson; sisters, Emily May of Boneville and Carol Goldman (Gerald) of Lincolnton; brothers, James Johnson (Esther) of Jefferson and David Johnson (Patricia) of Thomson.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, William and Cody Johnson; nephew, Jimmy May; and friends, Jason Martin, Tyler Rodewolt and Aaron Tudor. Honorary pallbearers will be his brothers, James and David Johnson, and brother-in-love, Gerald Goldman.
The family will receive friends at the Curtis Funeral Home in Thomson from 6 to 8 PM on Friday, February 23. A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Johnson will be at 2 PM at the Chapel of Curtis Funeral Home on Sunday, February 25, with burial to follow in the Pierce Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery in Wilkes County.
Friends may call at the Curtis Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday night at the funeral home.
