Howard Hokrein Obituary

Thomson - Howard Jasper Hokrein, 84, went home to be with the Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 20, 2022. His beloved wife, Ann, was faithfully at his side.

Howard was born and raised in Elmhurst, Pa., the son of Jasper Howard Hokrein and Gladys Evans Hokrein. Later, he moved to Dover, N.J. where he opened a pet shop and a recreational vehicle dealership. In 1977, he moved his family to Thomson, Ga., where he dabbled in farming, eventually purchasing and operating Thomson Chemical and Janitorial Supply, along with a few other small businesses. He was a member and elder at Thomson Presbyterian Church for many years.

He was most known for his compassion for people in need, often giving away items from his accumulated stores of merchandise or going out of his way to offer assistance.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Hokrein and their combined children; Dale Hokrein (Nancy), Glen Hokrein (Karen), Donna Hokrein Bates (John), Steve Webber (Sheryl), Jennifer Tyler (Dale), and Daniel Webber; 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, as well as many special nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Florence Hokrein, and his three siblings, Gladys Herman, Roy Hokrein, and Marilyn Gockley.

The Celebration of Life will be held at the Curtis Funeral Home Chapel, on Thursday, February 24, 2022, at 2 p.m., with Pastor Mike Sutphin of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Acting as pallbearers will be several of Howard’s grandsons: Logan Bates, Evan Hokrein, Tucker Hokrein, Sam Webber, Zachary Webber, and Cody Tyler.

A private interment will follow at Westview Cemetery.
