Ira Powell Usry, Jr.

Columbia S.C. – Mr. Ira Powell Usry Jr., 72, died Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at his residence. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, October 21, 2023, in the Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens, with Dr. Steve Dodson and Mr. Skip Young officiating.

Mr. Usry was born in Richmond County, but grew up in Thomson Ga, where he graduated Thomson High School. He was the son of Ira Powell Usry Sr. and Alice Gainey Usry. He graduated from the University of Georgia. He was a  long-time resident of Columbia S.C. and a member of Eastminister Presbyterian Church. During his career, Ira served as a regional manager for Greentree Financial. Most recently, he enjoyed managing multiple businesses and interacting with his employees and customers.

He is survived by his wife, Amelia Watson Usry; his two sons, Ira Usry III ( Fiance, Ann Wheelock), of Roanoke, Va., and John T. Usry, Columbia, S.C.; his sister, Mrs. Pat (Al) Adams, Thomson; his mother-in-law, Mrs. R. Patten Watson; his brother and sister-in-law, Patten and Starlene Watson; as well as several nieces and nephews, Jamie A. Dang (Will), Michael Adams, Patten Watson IV, and Dargan Watson.

In lieu of Flowers, Donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

The family will greet friends after the services at the cemetery.
