Thomson – Joseph “Aubrey” Montgomery was born March 29, 1931 to Tom and Annie Langham Montgomery in Thomson, GA.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his youngest son, Larry Montgomery; his brothers Bobby Montgomery and Thomas Montgomery; his sisters, Roberta Montgomery, Georgia Lee Montgomery, Betty Montgomery, Ethal Mae Hobbs, Ozzie Montgomery, Ossie Richardson, and Mattie Queen Hobbs.
Mr. Montgomery was survived by his wife, Pauline Usry Montgomery; daughter, Joyce Montgomery Phillips (A.G.); son, Donald Montgomery (Robin); grandchildren Perry Street (Elane), Aubrey Lamar (Marty) Montgomery (Kristy), Kimberly Vachon (Jeremy), Brenton Collins Phillips (Samantha), Rebecca Montgomery, Joshua Montgomery (Tabitha), Jessica Treadwell (Jason), Bethany Dix (Richard) ; fourteen great-grandchildren and the fifteenth due close to his birthday, next March; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Montgomery retired from Thomson Lowes. In his pastime, he loved to farm and garden, which he also loved to share with family, friends and neighbors.
He could be seen with Pauline, when she was able, having breakfast at one of their favorite places; McDonalds, Bojangles, Popeyes, Krystals, Mrs. Peggy’s and Golden Corral.
Many trips were made to Lowes in Augusta to keep up with the past employees Mr. Montgomery had worked with before retiring from the Thomson Lowes.
A funeral service will be on Friday, September 13, 2024 at 2 PM in Sweetwater Baptist Church in Thomson, with Rev. Wayne Usry, Rev. Jimmy Richardson and Rev. Don Cummings officiating. Interment will follow, in the Sweetwater Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Perry Hobbs, Josh Montgomery, Brenton Collins Phillips, Jeff Montgomery, Troy Wilson and Marty Montgomery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Sweetwater Baptist Church, 1606 Wrens Hwy, Thomson, GA 30824.
Friends may call at the residence or at the Curtis Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour before the service, from 1 to 2 PM in the church.
