Thomson - Mr. James A. “Jeep” Gunby Jr., beloved husband of Mrs. Gayle Gunby, passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at his residence.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at 2 PM, in the Curtis Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Mike Sutphin officiating.
Mr. Gunby was raised in Thomson, Ga. He was a graduate of Thomson High School. He was retired from Civil Service at Fort Gordon as a plumber. He was a member of Thomson First Baptist Church. He was an avid hunter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Aubrey and Mary Gunby; his sister, Vicky Gunby; and his brothers, Freddy Gunby, Craig Gunby, and Donnie Gunby. Survivors include his wife, Gayle Gunby; his daughter, Renae Gunby (Jason) Connor, Harlem; his son, Jim (Susan) Gunby, Savannah; his three brothers, Clay (Brenda) Gunby, Joe (Kelly) Gunby, and Bob Gunby, all of Thomson; his 7 grandchildren, Kristen (Ryan) Weems, Avery H. Cooper, Emma, Kaitlyn, Nathan, Christopher and Kristen; his two great-grandchildren, Louisa Russom and Brayden Vinsh; his step-daughter, Kimberly Odom and his step-son, Allen (Rebecca) Odom.
