Thomson - Mr. John P. Holiman, 85, beloved husband of Mrs. Mary Ann Holiman, died Tuesday, August 13, 2024, in Hancock County.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, August 23, 2024, in the Thomson First Baptist Church, with Dr. David Lambert officiating.
Mr. Holiman was a native of Bauxite, Arkansas, but had lived in Thomson for many years. He was retired from the United State Air Force after 20 years of service. He was retired from the Thomson Police Department, after 23 years of service. He was currently working as a bailiff in the Tombs Judicial Circuit in Warren County and at the Curtis Funeral Home. He was a member of the Thomson First Baptist Church. He loved to play golf and to hunt and fish.
He was preceded in death by his parents. John V. Holiman and Evelyn & Lilburn Chenault; his sister, Martha Cox; and his grandson, Noah Holiman.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Holiman; His two sons, David (Sherry) Holiman and Michael (Alma) Holiman; his grandchildren, Aleida Holiman, Tony Holiman, Sarah (Cody) Martin, and Andrew Holiman; his great-grandchild, Cadence Martin; his brother and sisters, Margaret Ashcraft, Harold (Linda) Holiman, and Sharon (Robert) Clark; and multiple nieces and nephews.
Honorary Pallbearers will be officers of the Thomson City Police, McDuffie County Sheriff Department and local GBI agents that John had the honor to serve with.
Friends may call at the residence or at the Curtis Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Atrium of Thomson First Baptist Church, on Friday, Augusta 23, 2024
