Thomson - Joyce Bradford, a cherished mother, whose love affected her family and friends in and around Thomson, passed peacefully on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at Lake Crossing Health Center.
Joyce was born on May, 8, 1937, in Warren County, to the late Roger and Pearl Perdue. She grew up in Thomson, made her home and raised her family there.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Thomson. She worked for many years for the Thomson Company and Garland Mills in Warrenton, and later in the grocery business with Piggly Wiggly in Thomson. Joyce loved the outdoors, gardening, hunting and fishing, camping, boating, dancing, and especially people.
She is survived by her two daughters, Kathy S. Locklear (Frank) and their daughter, Jennah; Vicky S. Reese (Wayne) and her children, Clay Walden (Stephanie) and Brooke Swint; stepchildren, Tonya Bradford Gowan (Bill) and children April, Quinn, and Tyler; Jeff Bradford (Melissa) and children, Cassidy and Morgan; plus several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Jerry D. Smith and Thomas Dennis Bradford, and six brothers and one sister.
In lieu of Flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, March 18, 2024, in the Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens, with Dr. David Lambert officiating. The family will receive friends from 3 to 3:45 Monday at the funeral home.
