Harlem - Mrs. Lynette Johnson, 84, beloved wife of Mr. Waymon Johnson, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 13, 2024, in the Curtis Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Clayton Galloway Sr. officiating. Burial will be in the Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Johnson was born in Wilkes County to the late John and Hazel Smith. She was retired from the McDuffie County School System after 25 years, as a Cafeteria Manager at Dearing Elementary. She was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church in Harlem. Mrs. Johnson loved her family above all else. She enjoyed spending time with “chilluns”, playing bingo, shopping, gardening, and watching her favorite shows on T.V.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Hazel Smith, her former husband and father of her children, Eugene Phillips; her sister, Patricia Kitchens, and her sons, Curtis Phillips and Sandy Phillips.. Survivors include her husband, Waymon Johnson, Harlem; her daughter, Karen Phillips (Bobby), Thomson; her two sons, Barry (Teena) Phillips, Thomson, and Ronnie (Jackie) Phillips, Mississippi; her 7 grandchildren, Krissie Brown (Brian), Leslie Phillips, Chad Brown (Brandi), Erik Phillips, Aaron Phillips (Lori), C.J. Phillips, and Austin Phillips (Carmen); and 17 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Chad Brown, Landon Brown, Aaron Phillips, Austin Phillips, C.J. Phillips, and Chevy Butler.
Friends may call at the residence or at the Curtis Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Funeral Home prior to services.
