Thomson – Marianne Whitaker, 87, of Hemlock Drive, was welcomed into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at her home.
Mrs. Whitaker was a native of Fitzgerald, Georgia, but had lived in Thomson for many years. She was a member of Thomson First Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and loved cooking and serving all of her family and friends.
Visitation will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, February 11, 2023, at Curtis Funeral Home with a Celebration of Life Service at 1:00 PM in the chapel with Andy Collins and Tripp Goodwin officiating. Interment will be at Westview Cemetery with Dr. David Lambert presiding.
Mrs. Whitaker was predeceased by her husband, C. W. “Whit” Whitaker, and her son, John Irwin Whitaker. Survivors include her daughters, Julie W. Plunkett (Jimmy), Anita Whitaker, of Stockbridge, and son, Jeremy Whitaker (Buffy), of Thomson, and one sister, Bonita James (Anthony), of Valley, AL.
“Nana” is survived by her grandchildren: Rachel Whitaker, Noah Whitaker (Lindsay), Caleb Plunkett (Nicole), Chelsey Goodwin (Tripp), and Gracie Whitaker, and her precious grand-dog, Cookie, great-grandchildren: Jude Whitaker, Salem Whitaker, Cana Whitaker, Jubilee Whitaker, Justus Whitaker, River Whitaker, Titus Whitaker, Rylie Goodwin, Sophia Goodwin, Ellie Goodwin, Olivia Goodwin, and Lucy Goodwin.
Pallbearers will be her nephews: David McCranie, Tim Whitaker, Lee Hogan, Len Hogan, and Scott McCranie.
