Thomson - Mrs. Marjorie Howard Cole, 97, beloved wife of Mr. Robert L. Cole, passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at the Wellstar Health Facility in Augusta.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, February 12, 2026 in the Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens, with Rev. Justin Epley officiating.
Born Marjorie Ann Howard in Dearing, Ga., October 24, 1928, to Roy and Thelma Howard. She attended Dearing school and graduated from Dearing High School in 1945. She attended Reinhardt College in Waleska, Ga. and earned a business Degree in 1947. Her first job was at the C & S Bank in Augusta. Later she was employed at Fort Gordon. After her marriage to Robert Cole in 1949, they made Thomson their home, where she was employed as Secretary to Robert Knox Sr., attorney for 25 years. She spent the last years of her employment at the McDuffie County Clerk of Court office. She was a member of the Thomson Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded by her parents, her brother, Bill Howard, her brothers-in-law, H.L.McCright and Ernest McClendon. Survivors include her husband, Robert L. Cole, Thomson; her daughter, Barbara Gail (Tom) Ulmer, N. Augusta, S.C.; her two grandsons, Thomas Ulmer and Michael Ulmer; a great-grandson, Charles Ulmer; her sisters, Doris McClendon and Beth McCright, both of Carrollton; her sister-in-law, Vickie Howard of Thomson; and several nieces and nephews
Per her request, there will be no Visitation.
