Dearing- Mrs. Martha Faye Kelley Wood, 84, widow of Mr. John Ramon Wood, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at her residence.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m., Saturday, April 12, 2025, in the Fort Creek Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Wood was born in Wilson, N.C. to Jim and Martha Kelley. She has lived in Dearing for many years. She was a retired Para Pro having worked for the McDuffie County Board of Education. She was a member of the Fort Creek Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Katie Harrison Sunday School Class.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. John Ramon Wood, and her parents, Jim and Martha Kelley. Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Martha Susan (Larry) Hampton, Dearing; her son, Mr. Ramon Paul (Tecia) Wood, Augusta; her two grandsons, Logan Emory and Chase Emory, both of Dearing; and her two granddaughters, Naomi (Chris) German, and Dixie (Glenn) Wright; and her best friend, Janet Whatley.
Pallbearers will be Patrick Sutter, Bobby Chalker, Gene Sherrer, Kevin Greene, Matt Huff, and Steven Whatley.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ben Huff and members of the Katie Harrison Sunday School Class.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Gideons or the Fort Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
Friends may call at the Curtis Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday night at the funeral home
