Thomson - Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Gilmer McDaniel, 74, died Thursday, Oct. 15, 2020, at the University / McDuffie Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18, 2020, in the Curtis Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Mike Sutphin officiating. Burial will be in the Little Briar Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. McDaniel was a native of Warren County. She was a retired Para Pro with the Warren and McDuffie County Schools. She was a member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Wallace David Gilmer, Jr. and Mrs. Virginia Gilmer Baker; two grandchildren, Amber Marie Whitaker and Austin Luke Ashley. Survivors include her two daughters, Kathy (Ken) Banks, Warrenton, and Melissa (Eddie) Thornton, Thomson; her son, Billy Reuben Huff Jr., Thomson; her sister, Mrs. Linda (John) Armstrong, Auburn, Ga.; her brother, Wallace Alton “Buck” (Pat) Gilmer, N.C.; her 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; and the staff and residents of Mt. Pleasant Assisted Living.
Pallbearers will be Rodney Reeves, Dalton Banks, Ryan Thornton, Jayden Reid, Dale Ashley, and Ken Banks.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, social distancing and masks will be observed.
Friends may call at the residence of Melissa Thornton or at the Curtis Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
