Harlem - Mrs. Mildred “Midge” Gay, 79, widow of Mr. Talmadge Gay, passed away on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, August 14, 2025, in the Silver Run Baptist Church, with Rev. Roland Galloway and Rev. Jerry Pittman officiating. Burial will follow in the Walker Cemetery.
Mrs. Gay was born in Washington, Ga., and had lived in Harlem for many years. She worked at the Harlem Plant of the Thomson Company and Chardan. She was a Registered Nurse and had retired as the Director of Nursing at Lake Crossing Nursing Facility.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Talmadge Gay; her parents, Doc Gay and Beatrice Barnette; her daughter, Gwen Chalker; and her siblings, Donna Paris, Gary Stribling, and Debra Merker.
Survivors include her daughter, Janet (Jeff) Neal, Harlem; her three grandchildren, Garrett Neal, Augusta, Chris Kelley and Adam Kelley; Her brother, Ricky (Denise) Cryder, Winder; her three special cousins, Herman Gay, Joe (Judy) Gay, and Pete (Edith) Allen; her two aunts, Mel (Randy) Rourke and Pat Bowick; her beloved friends, Lynn Maxwell and Ellen Gay; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Jeffery Chalker, Daniel Cosby, Ryan Cosby, Tony Kelley, Eddie Kitchens, and Warren Wren. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dan Cosby, Jeff Kitchens, Terry Ashley, and her nephews.
In lieu of Flowers, the family request that Donations be made to the Silver Run Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday night at the Curtis Funeral Home.
