Thomson – Mr. Otis Harrison, 85, beloved husband of Dorothy “Dot” Southard Harrison, entered into rest Monday, September 17, 2018 at his residence.
A celebration of life will be held in the Thomson First Baptist Church on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. David Lambert officiating. Interment will follow in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Harrison was a native of Richmond County, GA. He had made Thomson his home for many years. He was a member of the Leroy Sunday School Class at Thomson First Baptist Church.
He was employed with Suntrust Bank in Thomson for 14 years after previously retiring from 35 years of service with Bellsouth, as well as, 20 years with the Georgia National Guard.
Mr. Harrison loved his family and friends. He had a strong commitment to helping people in need. He also enjoyed hunting and bee keeping.
He was predeceased by his parents Mr. Frank Harrison and Mrs. Ruby Luckey Harrison, a son, Phil Harrison and a sister, Earlene Harrison.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy “Dot” Southard Harrison; a daughter, Teresa Pearson (Jimmy), Baxley; a son, Christopher Blake Harrison (Melody), Thomson; a sister, Ernestine Sullivan, Florence, Colorado; 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Leroy Sunday School Class. Pallbearers will be Reid Collins, Joe Kelly, Jerry Brinkley, Chris Harrison, Scott Montgomery, and Michael Rogers.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Belinda Davis, Verna “Bay” Wilson, Lana Few, Toni Gaines, Rebecca Blair and Tracy Evans for the care given to Mr. Harrison.
The family will receive friends this Wednesday at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m.
