Thomson - Mrs. Patricia “Pat” Burgess Eick, 83, widow of Mr. Carson “Bob” Eick, passed away Friday, April 25, 2025 at her daughter’s home.
Pat was born, Patricia Annette Burgess, to Dennis Brantley Burgess and Anna Belle Bryant Burgess in Evans, Georgia. Pat loved her mama but was definitely a daddy's girl. She loved her 5 sisters and brothers and had many fond southern memories with each of them.
Pat attended Richmond Academy, but loved spending summers in the country in Metasville, GA with her Uncle Henry Samson Walker and Aunt Katie "Grace" Burgess Walker, learning and loving the farm life there with her oldest sister, Sandra, and cousin Burgess.
It didn't take Pat long to convert to life above the Mason-Dixon line though, after she met and married the love of her life, Carson "Bob" Eick (fresh out of the military in 1960) who just preceded her in a heavenly homecoming by 107 days on January 8th of this year, after nearly 64 years of marriage.
Over 15 years, she helped build a sweet little family with Robin, Renee and Carson, and a pretty little home with lots of wonderful friends in the quaint little Deleware River town of Lambertville, NJ.
Pat's return to Georgia with her family, a result of the Lord's call on Bob's life, was not at all in her plans or on her heart, but she followed as her husband was led. She grew a regular and steady stream of fellow Bible and Christian book lovers at the New Covenant Christian Bookstore that the Lord had called them to Thomson to open. This adventure began a fellowship network that turned into a scrolling list of service opportunities to evangelize for Christ over many years.
There was a period of several years where Bob served as the director of Child Evangelism Fellowship in the CSRA, where he and Pat hosted back yard bible clubs in local neighborhoods. They taught and led hundreds of area children to the gospel and love of Jesus.
Mom loved having her nieces for country visits over the summer, after she and dad were settled at Mesena Rd, reminiscent of her summers spent with Aunt Grace and Uncle Henry...wanting to pass on the tradition to other family that she loved so well.
Pat was very active with Bob in every church body they were a part of. She was the pastor's wife at Salem Methodist Church for 17 years, as well as the elder's wife at Thomson Presbyterian Church for 15 years. She and her closest friend of 65 years, Betsy Engel, attended the Carol Camak Bible Study with long time friend Ann Coxwell, the Christian Women's Club, Women of the Church functions wherever she could, and looked forward to helping with Vacation Bible Schools every year. She and Bob were also very active in the annual Missions' Conferences while attending the Thomson Presbyterian Church. Hosting missionaries nightly at their home during the conference led to lifelong friendships and additional mission opportunities for each of them.
She was a once active and proud member of the Capt. John Wilson Chapter of the DAR, which she worked diligently to secure her spot in. She was very enthusiastic about researching and documenting her family history and loved sharing genealogy information and tips with others.
Most people know that she was a living example of unconditional love for her family and defended them fiercely.
She also just loved...being a grandmom, wearing hats to church, watching "Highway to Heaven" and "Little House", something Free, sharing and propagating plants, traveling...especially Hilton Head and anywhere with family...reading good books, and how much dad adored her.
She did not like...an ugly word or a raised voice, so had interestingly enough mastered the art of the silent treatment and "the look" in protest. Ha Ha
Most people don't know that she was actually extremely witty, like super funny, and full of knowledge...albeit limited in scope, sometimes mispronounced and just a tad scrambled...there was a lot there.
But Most important of all...she was, seriously, so dearly loved and is now pain free, at peace and rejoicing with Pop in heaven. The complete healing that she always trusted Jesus for is finally hers.
"...for He who promised is faithful..." Hebrew 10:23 Thanks be to God!
