R. Hugh Wells

Dearing - Mr. Robert Hugh Wells, 76, beloved husband of Mrs. Elaine Pearson Wells, died Friday, June 10, 2022 in the Piedmont / McDuffie Hospital.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, June 13, 2022, in the Westview Cemetery with Rev. Jimmy Martin officiating. 

Mr. Wells was a native of Hancock County, but had lived in McDuffie County for many years. He was a retired Heavy equipment operator with the Knox-Rivers and Allied Construction Company, having worked for 60 years. He was an army veteran. He was a member of the Fort Creek Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sterling and Mary Wells, his siblings, J. S. Wells, Jeanette English, Florence Thigpen, Tony Wells, Glenn Wells and Randall Wells. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Mrs. Elaine Pearson Wells; his two daughters, Paula Kelley, Nikki Griffith; his son, Ricky Wells; his four sisters, Joyce Newsome, Linda Reese, Karen Whitaker, and Debbie Burton; his two brothers, Alan Wells, and David Wells;  his 10 grandchildren and his 13 great-grandchildren. 

Pallbearers will be his nephews, C.J., Nick, Welsey, David, Kenneth, and Buddy.
