Thomson - Mr. Ray L. Story, 85, beloved husband of Mrs. Florence Ann Story, passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at his residence.
A memorial graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2025, in the Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens, with Rev. Scott Lawson, Rev. Jerald Eaves and Rev. Don Cummings officiating.
Mr. Story was born in Wilkes County and had lived in Thomson for many years. He had retired from Sears after 31 years of service, as a Truck Route supervisor and K-Mart, after 13 years of service. He was also a past Deputy Coroner with the McDuffie County Coroner’s Office. He was a member of the Sweetwater Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Jamie Story; his brother, Ronald Story; and his grandson, Jay Green. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Florence Ann Story, Thomson; his daughter Rhonda (Raymond) Davidson, Villa Rica; his son Ray (Denise) L. Story, Jr., McDonough; his granddaughter, Rebecca Story, McDonough; the mother of his children, Rosalyn Story, Villa Rica; Stepdaughter Noelle (Scott) Lawson; two step-grandchildren, Taylor Lawson and Tanner (Shelby) Lawson; two step great-great-grandchildren, Selah Lawson and Moriah Lawson; stepson, Steve (Tammy) Green; step great-grandchildren, Megan (Nate) Morris, and Hannah Green; three step great-great-grandchild, Hudson, Rhett, and Paisley Morris; sister-in-law, Tina Story.
The family will receive friends prior to services on Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2025.
