Thomson- Mrs. Rebecca Burton Reese, 79, beloved wife of Mr. Teddy Reese, died Friday, October 2, 2020, at her residence.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, October 4, 2020, in the Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Butch Baston and Rev. Clifton Brown officiating.
Mrs. Reese was a native and lifelong resident of McDuffie County. She taught school for over 36 years. She was Teacher of the Year in McDuffie County in 1990 and was the Star Teacher of the Year at Briarwood in 2003. She was a member of the Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority. She was a member of Sweetwater Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School, was the Music Director, and served in many other roles at the Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Montie and Thelma Burton, and her siblings, Ray Burton, Mack Burton, and Carroll Burton. She is survived by her husband, Mr. Teddy Reese, Thomson, her two daughters, Tracy (Pat) Ansley, Warrenton, and Carla (Tommy) Cole, Thomson; a brother, Mr. James (Louise) Burton, Canton; her two grandchildren, Blake (Miriam) Ansley and Mrs. Blythe (Matt) Mason; and her 5 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Bryan Smith, Scott Wills, Adam Hill, Brad Wiley, Adam Chalker, and Wade Thigpen.
In lieu of Flowers, Donations may be made to the Sweetwater Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society.
