Robert W. "Bobby" Jones

Bobby Jones, a lifetime resident of McDuffie County, died on Thursday, July 29, 2021. Bobby was born in Thomson, Georgia, on May 29, 1930 to Jim Waller Jones and Kathleen (Tinky) Williams Jones.  Bobby, age 91, was a graduate of the 1947 Class of Thomson High School, and a member of Thomson First Baptist Church.  He was a proud Charter Member of Raysville Boat Club and enjoyed his home on the lake.  He was also a Charter Member of the Bojangle's Men's Breakfast Club.

Bobby retired from the Colonial Store of Augusta after 30 years of service and also worked at Bi-Lo in Thomson for over 5 years.

Survivors include his first cousins:  Betty Jean Howard of Augusta; Shirley Davis of Knoxville, TN; Sarah Smith; Nancy Morris (Ed Story); Jerry (Patsy) Williams; Linda Hogan; and J. B. Williams, all of Thomson.  He is also survived by several second and third cousins, too numerous to mention. 

A graveside service will be held on Monday, August 2, 2021, at  10:00 at Westview Cemetery with the Rev . Doug Butts and Rev. Bobby Farmer, officiating. Curtis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. 

In lieu of flowers, Bobby requests that donations be made in his memory to First Baptist Church of Thomson, PO Box 1205 , Thomson, Georgia 30824.
