Sara (Reid) McDonald

Thomson - Mrs. Sara McDonald, 83, beloved wife of Mr. Forrest Larry McDonald, passed away, Thursday, April 30, 2026, at her residence.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m., Sunday, May 3, 2026, in the Second Chance Independent Church, with Rev. Jacob Patteson, Mrs. Erica Cook and Rev. David Carroll officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.

Mrs. McDonald was a native of Columbia County, but had lived in Thomson for many years. She was retired from Uniroyal. She was a member of the Second Chance Independent Church.

Survivors include her husband, Forrest Larry McDonald, Thomson; her two daughters, Jennifer Gilmer, Appling and Debra Poss, Thomson; her three sisters, Susan Hannah, Linda Taylor, and Margaret LeDoux; her two brothers, Billy Smith and Kenneth Smith; her 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Adam Murphy, Evan Holbrook, Gene Holbrook, Bryar Holbrook, Clinton Fain, and Collin Fain. Honorary Pallbearer will be Trevor Poss.

The family would like to thank two special care givers, Rita Adkins and Chatty Hill.

Friends may call at the Curtis Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. at the church prior to the services.
