Shirley (Hollis) Jenkins

Thomson- Mrs. Shirley Jenkins, 85, widow of Mr. Virgil “Doodle” Jenkins, died Tuesday, January 2, 2024, in the Piedmont / Augusta Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, January 5, 2024, in the Little Brier Creek Baptist Church, with Rev. Jackie Robinson and Dr. Randy Dunaway officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Jenkins was a native of Coffee County, but had lived in Thomson for many years. She was a retired seamstress, having worked at the Thomson Company and Uniroyal. She attended the High Praises Church of God in North Augusta.

Survivors include her daughter, Peggy (Mike) Beckworth, Thomson; her son, Mike (Pat) Jenkins, Thomson; her brother, Billy (Rosie) Hollis, Thomson; her four grandchildren, Tonya Whitaker, Shane Jenkins, Tiffany Hardy, and Chasie Gerlach; and her 8 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Nicholas Whitaker, Logan Whitaker, Curtis Whitaker, David Hardy, Geoffrey Gerlach, and Mike Gurley.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Friends may call at the Curtis Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m. Friday in the Fellowship Hall at Little Brier Creek Baptist Church.
