Thomson - Warren Palmer Kitchens, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, PawPaw, brother, and friend, peacefully entered into his eternal rest on the afternoon of July 24, 2025, at his home in Thomson, Ga. He was born on April 17, 1941, in the Panhandle of Warren County.
Warren graduated from Warren County High School with high marks and later made his home in Thomson for many years. Immediately following high school, he joined the United States Marine Corps, where he proudly served his country for four years.
After his military service, Warren began his carrier at the Thomson Post Office before transferring to Warrenton, where he served faithfully as Postmaster for over 38 years. He earned the respect and admiration of his community through his strong work ethic, integrity, and unwavering commitment to excellence.
Warren was deeply loved by all who knew him, especially his family. From a young age, he carried a servant’s heart-always putting the needs of others before his own. He was known for his quiet strength, kind spirit, and steadfast devotion to those around him.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Frankie Kitchens; his loving daughter and dedicated caregiver, Pamela Kitchens; his son, Jeff Kitchens (Shannon); and his beloved grandchildren: Kimberly Ledbetter, Chris Hawkins (Destiny) Katelyn Shields Dunbar (Ryan), Matthew Shields (Wynter), Brandt Taylor, Lauren Kitchens, and Hunter Kitchens. He was a treasured “PawPaw” to Barrett Ledbetter, Paxton Ledbetter, and Magnolia Hawkins, who brought him immense joy. Warren is also survived by his dear siblings, Eva Newsome Ware (Kelly) and David Kitchens.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret Virginia Anderson and Warren Kitchens Sr.; his brothers, Wayne Kitchens and Edward Kitchens; and his twin great-granddaughters, Sadie Rae and Gracelyn Hope Hawkins.
When he wasn’t spending time with his family, Warren could often be found in his garden or by the water with a fishing pole (or two) in hand-two of his favorite pastimes that brought him great peace and happiness. His legacy of love, integrity, and strength will live on through his family and all who had the blessing of knowing him.
Pallbearers will be Chris Hawkins, Matts Shields, Hunter Kitchens, Mark Rivers, Jutt Gunn, and Tommy Rushing.
A celebration of life will be at 2 p.m., Sunday, July 27, 2025, in the Zoar Church, with Rev. Bill Strickland and Rev. Faye Burgamy officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, July 26, 2025, at the Curtis Funeral Home.
In lieu of Flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity or to Zoar Church Building Fund in C/O Laura Kitchens, 20819 Hwy 1 N, Matthews, Ga., 30818.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Susan Land for her many years of compassionate care as Warren’s primary Physician. We are especially grateful to Allay Hospice-particularly Billy Roberts and Nikki Thigpen-for their kindness and support in his final days. We also wish to acknowledge CSRA Home Health, especially Lacey Hughes and Kimberly Hawkins, for their dedicated care in years past. Your compassion and commitment will never be forgotten.
