Thomson - Mr. Willie Green, Sgt. First Class retired, 86, Beloved husband of Mrs. Suzanne Hunt Green, died Monday, February 3, 2020, at the Charlie Norwood V.A. Medical Center.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 7, in the Thomson First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Alan Smith officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Friday, in the Centennial Baptist Church Cemetery, Rutledge, Ga., with Full Military Honors.
Mr. Greene was a native of Monroe, Ga., but had lived in Thomson for many years. He was a retired Sergeant First Class with over 20 years of active duty with the U.S. Army. He was a Vietnam veteran. He was a member of the Thomson First United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mattie Green; His parents, Willie Miller Green and Mary Lou Studdard Green; His brother, Jimmy Green; and his sisters, Ethel Sordillo, Jo Anne Kurz, and Kathryn Green. He is survived by his wife, Suzanne Hunt Green; his children, Agnes Darlene Westray, Liberal, Ks., Eva Mae Osborne, Thomson, Elizabeth Rebecca (Becky) Carla McDowell, Hazelhurst, Ga., and Willie Eugene Green, Jr. (Tabatha) Harlem; 9 grandchildren, William Christopher Mullis-Maleby, Nashville, Tn., Judy Marie Thurman, Milledgeville, Ga., James David Brown, Covington, Ga., Jimmy Lewis Powell, N. Augusta, S.C., Melissa Joy Madison, Alma, Ga., Rebecca Hope Castillo, Alma, Thomas Allen Vickers, Alma, Cherelle Arista Green-Rivers, Minneapolis, Mn, and Kendrick Dontrell Cummings, Harlem; 12 great-grandchildren, Dixie Thurman, Dylan Thurman, Courtney Wingate, Shree Madison, Presley Castillo, C. J. Madison, Felix (Jr.) Castillo, James Vickers, Demetrio Castillo, Shanlee Wilcox, Jacob Vickers, and Ava Marie Harper; 2 great-great-grandchildren, Beckett Cochran (Darrell) and Julian Wiley; his 3 sisters, Mary Harman, Oxford, Ga., Betty Gafnea, Atlanta, Ga., and Barbara White (Larry), Kennesaw, Ga.; and 2 brothers, Phil Green, Marietta and William Clifford Green (Glenda), Rockmart, Ga.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 to the hour of service at the Church on Friday.
