Owner/ Funeral Director & Embalmer

Foster is the son of Lawrence "Buddy" Wylie and the former Virginia Nelle Riley.  He is a licensed funeral director and embalmer in Georgia.  He has been in the funeral service and family business since 1977 and currently serves as fifth generation owner,  He is a graduate of Gupton Jones College of Funeral Service.

Foster, a 1970 graduate of Butler High School in Augusta, is a recipient of the Paul Harris Award in 2000 and the Darrell Johnson Award in 2007. He has lived most of his life in McDuffie County and is married to the former Patricia Newman, of Augusta.

Foster has and continues to serve our community in several ways; as a Deacon of First Baptist Church of Thomson, a Rotarian, a Kiwanian, and a Lion.  Foster served as President of the Georgia Funeral Directors Association in 2000, President of Kiwanis Club of Thomson 2007-08, President of Rotary Club of Thomson 2008-09, and currently proudly serves as the McDuffie County Coroner.

He is presently a member of First Baptist Church of Thomson, Thomson Camellia City Lions Club, Georgia Funeral Directors Association and National Funeral Directors Association.  

In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his granddaughter, McKenzie and his much loved family. His sports passion is hunting and Georgia Tech Football, with his personal passion being the love of his Lord, family and community..

Randall Reese

Randall Reese

Apprentice Funeral Director and Embalmer

Randall, a lifelong resident of McDuffie County, is the son of Charles and Wanda Reese. He is a 2005 graduate of Thomson High School and a 2008 graduate of Augusta Technical College.  He is currently attending Ogeechee Technical College, Statesboro, GA, where he is working towards a degree in Mortuary Science, which he is to receive in 2019. 

In 2008, after working in various service occupations, he answered what he felt as a calling to the field of funeral service.  He had realized his passion for assistance to others in their greatest time of need. 

Randall has been a member of the Curtis Funeral Home family since 2011.  He presently assists in the operation of the funeral home where he works along side Foster Wylie, the owner and operator.  His dedication to the family firm and the Thomson McDuffie County community is immeasurable. 

He is presently a member of Second Chance Independent Church of Thomson,  President-elect of Kiwanis Club of Thomson, of which he will serve as president beginning in October of 2018, and Thomson Camellia City Lion's Club where he served as secretary. He is also Vice-chairman of the McDuffie County Republican Party and has been recently appointed to serve on the Thomson-McDuffie County Library Board.

In his spare time he enjoys spending time with is daughter, Faith, who is the apple of his eye,  attending his church, founded by his father, Charles Edward Reese, reading, and visiting with his much loved family and friends in the community.

Mrs. Pat Wylie

Receptionist and Secretary

Pat Newman Wylie, a native of Augusta-Richmond County, Georgia is the wife of John Foster Wylie, owner and operator of Curtis Funeral Home.  She graduated from Augusta College after her 1970 graduation from Butler High School.

She was an active member with Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society for many years and continues to serve others whose lives have been affected by illness. 

Pat volunteers to assist others whenever called upon. It may be for assistance with transportation to appointments, advice, or just communication.

She is active in supporting the Curtis Funeral Home and the service it provides to the community.

Pat is an active member of First Baptist Church of Thomson and Thomson Camellia City Lions Club. 

In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her granddaughter, McKenzie, attending church, taking art lessons and sharing in the lives of her son, Jonathan and other family.

Scott Whittle

Scott Whittle

Funeral Assistant

Scott Whittle is a native of Thomson, Georgia.  Scott spent his career in Public Safety with the Thomson Police Department.  Scott is the owner of Whittle's Lawn Care and a Thomson City Councilman.  Scott has a passion to serve others.  During his spare time Scott enjoys playing golf and spending time with his family. 


Bea Wylie

Office Manager

Bea Wylie was born in Thomson, Georgia and is the daughter of Lawrence "Buddy" Wylie and the former Virginia Nell Riley. She is the great-niece of Charles V. and Macie Wylie Curtis.  She moved to Augusta in 1960 and remained there until her recent move back to Thomson.

She is a 1972 graduate of Butler High School in Augusta and has held positions with the Medical College of Georgia, several Augusta area orthodontists, MAU, where she managed the Marion Hatcher Center for fifteen years and most recently she spent five years in the funeral profession.

Upon deciding to leave the Marion Hatcher Center, she worked with Posey Funeral Directors where she held the position of Office Administrator.  In this position, she learned about the business her family has been a part of for most of their lives.

Realizing there may be an opportunity to be closer to her family roots, Bea approached her brother, Foster, with the desire to assist him in the business aspect of the Curtis Funeral Home, which has resulted in her making a transition back to her home.

She presently works as the administrative assistant to the directors at the funeral home.

Bea is the proud mother of Danielle Mitchell and grandmother of Rylie Jane.  She enjoys attending Sanctuary Church in Evans, spending time with her family and is presently making the transition from life in Augusta back to her roots.

Just as she served others in her previous professions, she is now serving others in the Thomson-McDuffie County Community through her being an active member in the family business at the Curtis Funeral Home.
